 Hans Joachem Stach (1917-2009)

Hans Joachim Charles “Jochem” Stach was born in Brussels, Belgium on August 16, 1917. His father, Paul Stach, was a successful financier and managing partner of the Dutch branch of international banking conglomerate Mendelssohn & Co.

 

Stach served as a Netherlands Art Representative with the MFAA Branch of the Office of Military Government for Bavaria (OMGB). He participated in the identification of works of art and other cultural objects looted from Dutch collections by the Nazis and stored by the Monuments Men at the Central Collecting Points in Munich and Wiesbaden.

 

Jochem Stach died in Heemstede, the Netherlands on June 1, 2009.
